Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee

Cuscowilla is a beautiful location. Located right on the lake, the ceremony out on the peninsula. Wonderful bridges and docks for gorgeous images. You have to love it. Having a great couple, such as Leighann and Stephen made for such great images. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

The Foundry in Athens Georgia

We recently had the opportunity to shoot a few weddings at the Foundry Inn and Spa in Athens Georgia. This is a great location. A little hot in the summer. We shot the receptions in the adjacent ballroom, as well as one in the pavilion on site.

This site, although does not have the green open landscaping, it has beautiful texture to it. Which gives it a distinctive look. I love brickwork in photos, it gives an edgy look. When you do not have the lush gardens of location like Flint Hill and the Carl House, or the columns of a beautiful church, this works out nicely.

The Carl House

A great local site for us. The Carl House, in Auburn Georgia, is a beautiful mansion, with a southern charm. Very popular for wedding and reception events. I love shooting here. There are so many areas in and around the house that allow for great bridal and ceremony photographs. They do pay great attention to the gardens surrounding the home. I think what I like most about this site, is it is roomy. A lot of the old homes are very restricting in their room sizes, this location is very accommodating.

Engagement Shoot UGA North Campus

Just like Bridal shoots, I think Engagement shoots are a very helpful tool in getting to know your photographer. A lot of times brides will tell me that the groom is a little apprehensive about getting his picture taken. Well this is just what the doctor ordered.

An Engagement shoot is a great ice breaker. Both of you get a chance to see what your wedding day will be like. Without the heavy dress and flowers, and the anxiety the wedding day may bring. We get to know each other a lot better, and you are more comfortable to bring the images you really want to the table. It really makes for better images.

How many times do you think you will get a professional photographer to follow you around for an hour? Getting some great moments of the two of you, right before you are married? Those are treasured moments, just like your wedding day. Capture them!

Anne-Rose, Patrick and I had such a chance at the UGA North Campus. I have had a chance to shoot here often. There is a great historic Chapel on site as well, where many weddings are performed.

Windermere Golf Village

Golf clubs are always a challenge to shoot at. You might imagine lush green courses, beautiful lakes and bridges, and for the most part, this is true. Although, if caught at the wrong time, it can be a challenge. Trying to get that perfect shot, without anyone getting hit by a golf ball! Or better yet, riding around in a golf cart, looking for that perfect location. At some courses, this is what it takes, if that is your cup of tea. Other courses manage to design the course with some of the better views right near the clubhouse. Be sure to choose that one for your event site.

There are some great clubs out there, and Windermere Golf Village, in Cumming, Georgia, is one. With nice porch areas, a nearby green, and also a lake nearby. Also with a fancy fireplace indoors as a backdrop, it works well. Every club we have worked at has always had great people which have always been of help. From showing us great shot locations to moving people around. So not to worry.

I want you to meet Amanda and Johnny. We covered photography and video for them, as well as an engagement shoot. The early evening shoot did save us from the golfers. We did get some great shots as well, a fun loving couple.

As I stated in an earlier post, I would mention great vendors, as we ran across them. I did have a chance to meet a great vendor at this event, Melody with ‘Simply Elegant Floral Design‘. Great to work with, and I will even showcase some images of her flowers here. Flowers are a centerpiece of the photos, and quite often florist can be late, but Melody was right on target, and helped move things right along. Their attention to detail was awsome, they had even put a fishhook on the Groom’s boutonnière, because he is a fisherman! Cool!

Charleston Wedding

A lot of people ask me about the image you see on our main site. With the bride twirling around on the checkerboard floor. Well I thought I would explain a bit more about where the image was taken. As well as showcase a few more images taken from the day of their wedding.

This is one of my favorite images taken of Bonnie and Travis. It was taken at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. That particular image was shot in one of the barracks areas. The wedding was held at the chapel on campus. We also had the opportunity to get some great shots down on the waterfront at Battery Park.

The wedding itself was very old fashioned, with a traditional true southern family. From shrimp grits to ‘Bonnie Blue’ playing while everyone was on the dance floor, to cutting the cake with a sword.

I only wish we had more time to shoot with them while in Charleston. There are some colorful locations, and great buildings to use as props in the downtown area.

At Home Wedding Event

This past weekend I had a chance to photograph a great young couple, Lars and Stefanie. They are another example of a couple, that I had the chance to shoot their engagement. Although there was a severe chance of rain, and the bride was afraid it would ruin the pictures, she felt confident enough that we would be able to get great shots, because we had worked together before and had great fun in doing so. We were all so comfortable with the shoot that day, and I think it shows in the images.

It had also helped a bit that this was an at home wedding. Not a large event, but a lot of close family. It just goes to show, it doesn’t always take an expensive wedding to make great images, just great people.

I have also included some images from their engagement shoot. It was filmed in downtown Dahlonega, Ga. Nestled in the north Georgia mountain foothills. This location has a lot of great shooting opportunities.

Payne Corley House wedding

I would like to introduce Jennifer and James.

We had recently photographed there wedding at the Payne Corley House in Duluth, Ga.

This was a great couple. We were a little afraid that the rain was going to overshadow the event, but blue skies prevailed.

This house is great for weddings. A great staircase to shoot on, nice garden areas, dark green grass, and a beautiful gazebo for the ceremony. Although the train passed by only once to disrupt the ceremony, we were able to use the train tracks as a photo prop.

There are a lot of nice walkways around the home. This was caught while they were waiting for me to move to the tracks for some photos. Just after the ceremony. Such happy faces.

State Botanical Gardens Bridal Shoot, a good way to get to know the Photographer.

We had a bridal shoot this past week, and I thought it would give an opportunity to explain why a bridal shoot is important to you, the bride.

Our first meeting gives you and your fiance a chance to view our albums and prints, as well as gives the photographer a chance to learn more about your wedding plans, the location, size of the party, time of the ceremony, etc. But as we move closer to your wedding day, and you are a bit excited, and stressed about the day coming up really fast, a Bridal or even an Engagement Session are a fun way to get to know the Photographer.

This time gives a chance to interact, so you can see just how fun and even paced the wedding day will be. It makes you feel more open to suggest shots to me, that you may want on the day of the wedding. The more we get to know one another the better the images.

Case in point, here are a few images of a recent shoot. Meet Ashley. I have also photographed her and her fiance Kent for their engagement pictures. Both shoots were great fun.

This bridal shoot location was State Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia.

A beautiful site, full of flowers, and bridges, and gorgeous walkways.

Reviewing the images, I particularly like this image of her and her dog. Although it took a little work to get her to notice me(I am talking about the dog).
